What’s For Lunch?

Biotech versus Organic
This funny video might change your mind about buying Organic. Turns out some of our assumptions about how organic foods are healthier may not be totally true.

You Know You’re Getting Close To The Truth When People Start Lying…
I’ve heard some absurd things in my life, but when OPEC tried to take the position that domestic Ethanol production was increasing the price of gas, I had to laugh.
Fortunately it isn’t just me. The World BioFuels Industry has published an open letter refuting the claims made by OPEC.
You can read an article on the subject on GoodFuels here: www.goodfuels.org/opec
Wait, Ethanol is Good?!
A blog I’ve started reading lately has this post about Ethanol called, The Case for Ethanol.
It’s interesting to get this perspective because it flies in the face of a lot of what you see in the news (a point the author makes in his article).
For example, everywhere you read about ethanol, they always say it takes more energy to make ethanol that it produces. This author says its actually the other way around. He uses the analogy of comparing the fuel efficiency of an old Mercedes (which represent the methods of making ethanol in the 1970’s) to the efficiency of a modern Prius (the methods utilized today).
His point is that the people who are saying ethanol is too inefficient are using data from the 1970s.
If you like the idea of developing Ethanol, then you might want to sign the petition: http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/declare-july-4th-energy-independence-day.
God is Great, The Stupid Woman Did It
I almost couldn’t believe that Time Magazine was humanizing a suicide bomber by printing a story about her on their website (Link: http://www.time.com/time/world/article/0,8599,1817158,00.html?xid=rss-topstories). Then I was ashamed of myself for reading it. I don’t know, maybe it helps to shield yourself from understanding too much about your enemy.
But I couldn’t stop reading. I wanted to understand why this woman would become a suicide bomber.
After finishing the story, I realized why they wrote it. It really does show the shameful attitude these jihadists have toward their victims – the people they con into carrying out their wishes.
I remember when this happened about a year ago. It made big news.
I think in the end, this woman didn’t really understand why she was carrying out this attack. Some crazy way to deal with grief maybe.
Onions Have Layers
This site is dripping in political satire. In fact, as fake news goes, some of the stories are so outrageous it’s hard to believe they aren’t real. Just like most of the stuff you see on TV, read on the Internet, or if you are really 1.0 – read in the newspapers!
Although the content is decidedly left-wing, it does have a great twist on reality. Stories range from the political to the absurd.
Best of all is the special “Election 08” section with wall-to-wall fake coverage of the Presidential Race.
